Check the entry period before anything else
This is the Walmart-specific step and the whole method. The sweepstakes is re-issued in dated quarters, the rules replaced each time. On 19 August 2026 the live period was the 2026 Q3 Walmart August – October Sweepstakes, 1 August to 30 October 2026. A receipt from a closed period enters nothing.
Find the survey block on the receipt
It prints as a block reading chance to win $1000, with an ID number beside it. Not every receipt carries one; the store number prints as ST# in the header.
Type survey.walmart.com yourself
Put it in the address bar. A search for that exact string on 19 August 2026 returned eight results, none a Walmart page — two the same misspelling on different endings.
Do not enter the TC number
Receipts carry ST#, OP#, TE#, TR# and a long TC# under the barcode. The survey wants the ID number from the sweepstakes block, not the transaction code.
Finish it, within one week
The rules require the survey completed in its entirety, Submit clicked, within one week of the receipt date. Stopping halfway registers nothing; one guide puts it at 15 minutes.
Post a card if you have no receipt
No purchase is necessary. A postcard, 3½ x 5 to 4¼ x 6 inches, to PO Box 228, Macedon, New York earns the same entry.

Walmart operates its own stores, so the mechanics do not drift the way a franchise brand's do. The dates drift every quarter, and that is where a stale guide shows itself.

Periods and prizes change; the current rules override this.
Target publishes nothing, which is why its guides invented figures between $25 and $1,500. Walmart publishes everything, and its guides copy the prize correctly then attach a period that has closed. Publishing the rules is not enough if nobody reads them.
Publishing the rules is not the same as being read
Most survey pages on this site describe a company that will not say what it pays. This one is the opposite case, and it fails in a different way.
The company publishes a rules document on corporate.walmart.com, dated and specific: the 2026 Q3 Walmart August – October Sweepstakes, entries from 1 August to 30 October 2026, five grand prizes of $1,000 Walmart gift cards, 750 first prizes at $100, an ARV of $80,000, a drawing on or about 9 November 2026, a Bentonville, Arkansas sponsor address, a postcard route and a cap of 78 entries per entrant. None of it is hidden.
It is filed where shoppers do not look. The help centre, checked on 19 August 2026, covers orders, returns, Walmart+, pharmacy and marketplace, and never mentions the survey. The rules sit on the corporate site, and the gap gets filled by other people.
What fills it copies the prize accurately and the dates carelessly. A guide updated on 6 February 2026 still describes a period running 1 November 2025 to 30 January 2026. Another describes 26 October 2024 to 31 January 2025. Both were closed when checked. Because the prize structure has not moved since at least 2022 — Snopes verified the identical five-and-750 split for a period ending 29 April 2022 — a stale page reads as authoritative right up to the dates.
There is one more thing. The receipt survey pays nothing. The route that does pay is separate: Walmart asks buyers of enrolled items for a product review a week after delivery, giving a promo code worth at least $5, capped at 25% of the item price or $25. That reward is guaranteed; the survey is a lottery ticket.
