- Type ratefd.com. A search on 19 August 2026 returned ratefdcomsurvey.shop, ratefd.bond, ratefd.club and ratefd-surveys.com above or alongside it. None of those is Family Dollar.
- Treat any prize figure without a date as expired. The imitation domains advertise $500 and $1,000; the live survey page advertises nothing at all.
- No legitimate sweepstakes charges a fee to release a prize. A page asking for payment, a card number or a Social Security number to hand over a Family Dollar prize is not Family Dollar.
Family Dollar has not been part of Dollar Tree since 7 July 2025, when Brigade Capital Management and Macellum Capital Management completed a $1,007.5 million purchase and the chain became a standalone employer again under chairman and chief executive Duncan MacNaughton. That belongs at the top of the page, because guidance written before that date describes a company that no longer exists. The receipt survey survived the handover. Roughly 350 stores did not.
Who owns Family Dollar now
Not Dollar Tree. Not since July 2025.
Dollar Tree announced the divestiture on 26 March 2025 and closed it on 7 July 2025, selling the business to Brigade Capital Management and Macellum Capital Management for an aggregate base price of $1,007.5 million in cash. Dollar Tree kept a Transition Services Agreement running afterwards, which is why some paperwork still carries both names on the same process and why the separation reads as messier than it is.
Family Dollar Stores, Inc. is run from Chesapeake, Virginia, was founded in 1959 by Leon Levine, and is now chaired and led by Duncan MacNaughton, a former Walmart executive and its first chief executive as an independent retailer. No Family Dollar store is franchised, so the new owners inherited direct control of all 7,000-odd of them on day one rather than a licence book — which is why closures could run at roughly 35 a month from July 2025 without a single operator being consulted.
The footprint is shrinking fast. A Local Falcon study published on 18 May 2026 counted at least 350 closures between the 7 July 2025 handover and 12 May 2026, taking the chain from roughly 7,462 locations to about 7,112. Arkansas shed 13.9% of its stores, Alabama 11.9%, Tennessee 10.3%. In raw numbers Texas lost the most, at 35.
The survey names no prize. Four lookalikes do
RateFD at ratefd.com is the live receipt survey and it runs on InMoment, whose copyright notice sits at the foot of the entry page. Checked on 19 August 2026, that page named no reward and linked no official rules. It is a feedback form, not a prize draw advertised at the door.
That silence is the whole problem. Searching for the survey on the same date returned ratefdcomsurvey.shop promising $500, ratefd.bond promising $1,000, ratefd.club promising a $1,000 gift card and ratefd-surveys.com promising $1,000 — four domains, two figures, none of them operated by the retailer. The .shop, .bond and .club endings are the tell, and they rank because the real address publishes nothing for them to compete against.
If a Family Dollar sweepstakes is running, its terms sit in the official rules linked from inside the InMoment form, with a start and an end date attached. None of the four lookalikes dates its figure, which is the second tell after the domain ending.
Smart Coupons and Dollar General are separate things
Smart Coupons is the digital savings feature in the Family Dollar app. Clipping one enters you in nothing and has no connection to the receipt survey.
Family Dollar and Dollar General are competitors, not sister companies, despite near-identical receipt-survey mechanics and names that get swapped constantly. As of 7 July 2025 Dollar Tree is a competitor too — a change most published guides have still not absorbed, which is the single quickest way to tell whether one has been updated since 2025.
What this site does not do
