Three payroll systems, and one franchisee with 828 restaurants
The messiest staff-portal picture of any major chain, and the reason for it.
KBP Foods — now trading as KBP Brands, which is why both names return results — is the largest KFC franchisee in the United States. It passed 1,000 restaurants across 32 states in September 2025 on revenue of $1.4 billion, and 828 of those are KFC. The parent company publishes no US-only KFC count, and its Form 10-K counts 33,897 restaurants worldwide at 31 December 2025. Against a US estate that trade counts put near 4,000, that is close to one KFC in five under a single employer, running a single payroll system that has nothing to do with the one at the independently owned KFC in the next town.
KBP staff use UltiPro through InfoSync. Franchises on ADP use Workforce Now. Yum! Brands corporate employees use Workday. Three systems, one logo, and no way to tell from the outside which applies to you. The employer name printed at the top of your pay stub settles it in about 10 seconds; your general manager settles it in 30. No guide can, including this one.
The survey asks for both things the guides argue about
Published guidance on MyKFCExperience divides cleanly. One camp describes a 17-digit survey code printed on the receipt. The other says you enter the restaurant number, date and transaction time instead. Both are stated confidently and neither cites anything.
Checked on 19 August 2026, mykfcexperience.com presented a survey code field and a time field on the same screen, which suggests the two camps are each describing half of it. The footer credits Service Management Group, the same vendor running the McDonald's, Wendy's and Taco Bell surveys — four brands whose entry screens nonetheless ask for four different combinations of information.
The reliable move is to read the invitation line on your own receipt before you open anything, because the receipt format is set by your franchisee. The survey ends with a validation code to write on the paper and redeem on a later visit.
The bucket is where the value is
The $15.99 still circulating for an 8-piece bucket sits below every list checked in August 2026: two of them put it between $19.99 and $22.99, the third at $16 to $20. Even at the top of that band the chicken works out under $3 a piece, which undercuts both individual pieces and combo ordering. That is the reverse of how most fast food menus work, where the bundle is the saving and the shareable format is the premium.
Original Recipe is usually priced the same per piece as the other styles, so the choice is a preference rather than a cost decision. KFC was founded by Colonel Sanders and is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, but almost every restaurant is run by a franchisee who sets local pricing, so a national average is the most anyone can honestly publish.
Pay stubs and W-2s follow the system, not the brand
Because the payroll system belongs to your operator, so do your records. Stubs typically post 2 to 3 days before payday on a biweekly cycle of 26 pay periods a year. Your W-2 arrives through whichever of the three systems your employer uses, and the January 31 furnishing deadline binds that employer regardless of whether you still have a login when the date comes round.
Two operators in one tax year means two W-2s. They cannot be combined, and neither employer holds a record of the other's figures.
What this site does not do
