MCDVoice — The 26-Digit Code and What to Do Without It

MCDVoice asks for the 26-digit survey code printed in the middle of your McDonald's receipt. If that code has faded, and thermal paper fades fast, a second route uses the store number, KS number, date, time, order number and amount spent. The entry page states a cap of five surveys per restaurant per month. Receipts say 7 days. It ends with a validation code you write on the paper.

Runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. It checks the digit count only.

How to take the survey

  1. Find the 26-digit code in the middle of the receipt

It sits in the middle block, not at the bottom with the total, usually across two lines. Thermal paper fades within days in a warm car — photograph the receipt the same day.

  2. If the code has gone, use the alternate route

A second form takes store number, KS number, date, time, order number and amount spent — all elsewhere on the same receipt. A faded code is recoverable where a lost receipt is not.

  3. Type mcdvoice.com yourself

Enter it in the address bar rather than tapping a forwarded link. Service Management Group runs the survey, which is why it has its own domain.

  4. Answer the questions

Order accuracy, temperature, speed, cleanliness, staff and value. Rating scales with a free-text box. No account, no app.

  5. Write the validation code on the receipt

It appears on the final screen only. Write it in pen — there is no email copy and no way back into a closed session.

  6. Redeem on your next visit

Hand the marked receipt over at the counter. Most offers require a purchase, and the offer on your receipt is not the same nationwide.

If something goes wrong

The site says my code is invalid

Cause
A miscounted digit, or a faded 0 read as the letter O
Fix
Count them — mcdvoice.com asks for exactly 26, and the code is numeric.

The code has faded off the receipt

Cause
Thermal paper degrades with heat and light
Fix
Use the alternate form: store number, KS number, date, time, order number and amount.

It says I've reached my limit

Cause
Five surveys already taken at that restaurant this month
Fix
The cap is per restaurant, so a receipt from another McDonald's still works.

I closed the tab before writing the validation code

Cause
It is displayed once in-session with no email copy
Fix
Unrecoverable, and the receipt is spent. Customer service cannot reissue it.

The cashier refused my validation code

Cause
A purchase condition unmet, an aged-out code, or a different franchisee
Fix
Check the offer line and redeem at the store number printed on the receipt.

What’s fixed, and what actually varies

Two things here come from McDonald's own survey page. The rest is guides copying each other, and they do not agree. Around 95% of US McDonald's are independently operated, and the operator decides whether to run the offer at all.

Fixed

  • The code is 26 digits — mcdvoice.com says so on the entry screen
  • Five surveys per month per restaurant — also on the entry screen
  • It is printed mid-receipt, not at the bottom
  • Service Management Group runs it, not McDonald's directly
  • The validation code is written on the receipt, never emailed

Varies

  • The minimum age. mcdvoice.com states none; guides say 13, 15 and 18, one carrying 18 and 15 in the same article
  • How long the written validation code lasts — reported at 7 to 30 days
  • Whether your location prints a survey invitation at all
  • The reward — a free item such as a Quarter Pounder, a BOGO or a discount
  • Whether a purchase is required to redeem
  • Whether the alternate entry form appears — it depends on your store's receipt format

The offer is printed on your own receipt, below the survey invitation, before you start. That line names your reward and any purchase condition. No invitation means that restaurant is not running the offer.

How McDonald's compares

Entry method matters less than the deadline, and the deadline is what costs people rewards.

ChainWhat you enterWindowTypical reward
McDonald's26-digit code, or store no. + date + time + order no.7 daysFree item, BOGO or discount
Wendy'sRestaurant number, date, time — no code7 daysSandwich or Frosty, with purchase
Burger KingSurvey code from the receipt48 hoursWhopper or chicken sandwich

Rewards vary by location and period; your receipt overrides this table.

McDonald's is the only one of the three with a fallback when the code fades. Wendy's has no code to lose but no backup identifier either, and Burger King's 48 hours is roughly a fifth of the other two.

What mcdvoice.com actually says, and what the guides add

Two facts on this page come from McDonald's own survey site rather than from anyone's guide. Checked on 19 August 2026, mcdvoice.com asks for a 26-digit Survey Code located in the middle of your receipt, split across six input boxes, and states that customers may participate in up to five surveys per month per restaurant. Those two are settled.

Most of what else circulates is not. The minimum age is the clearest case: the entry page states none at all, one guide says 13, another says 18, and a third manages both 18 and 15 inside the same article. The 7-day receipt window is repeated everywhere and printed on receipts, but the entry page does not mention it. The life of the validation code is quoted at anywhere from 7 to 30 days.

The domain is the other thing worth explaining. A page asking for receipt details at an address that is not the brand's own looks wrong, and that instinct is worth keeping. Here it is normal: large chains hand feedback programmes to research firms, and Service Management Group runs MCDVoice for McDonald's Corporation — which is why the footer links to SMG's privacy policy rather than to the brand's.

What that does not excuse is any address other than the one printed on your receipt. A texted link claiming to be the McDonald's survey is not covered by that explanation, and the real survey never asks for a card number, a Social Security number, or a fee. If a page asks for any of those, close it.

Questions people ask

Where is the 26-digit code on a McDonald's receipt?

In the middle block, usually across two lines, not at the bottom with the total. If it has faded, the alternate form takes store number, KS number, date, time, order number and amount.

How long do I have to take the MCDVoice survey?

Seven days from the visit date is what receipts and every guide say, though mcdvoice.com itself states no window.

How many MCDVoice surveys can I take?

Five per restaurant per month, stated on the entry page itself. The cap is per location, so receipts from different McDonald's each carry their own count.

Is there a minimum age?

Nobody agrees. mcdvoice.com states none; guides claim 13, 15 and 18, and one states 18 and 15 in the same article. Treat it as unsettled.

What do I actually get?

It depends on your receipt: a free item such as a Big Mac or Egg McMuffin, a buy-one-get-one, or a discount, usually with a required purchase.

Can I still take it if the code is unreadable?

Yes — use the alternate route. This is the main practical advantage MCDVoice has over surveys with no fallback.

Who actually runs MCDVoice?

Service Management Group, a customer-experience research firm, on McDonald's behalf. That is why it lives on mcdvoice.com rather than mcdonalds.com.
