Chick-fil-A Menu Prices — There Is No National Price List

Chick-fil-A menu prices are set by the Operator: the chain publishes no price list, its own menu FAQ answers roughly 60 questions without touching price once, and 2,795 of its 2,863 traditional US restaurants are franchise stores. Genuine scatter follows, and one tracker's own city table runs $5.16 to $6.13 for the Chicken Sandwich. That does not explain a page quoting the same sandwich at $4.95 and $11.99 in one paragraph. Price it in the app instead.

Chick-fil-A — the official menu Selecting a restaurant prices the menu for that restaurant. No published table can do that.

How it works

  1. Accept that no company figure exists to look up

Chick-fil-A's own menu FAQ runs to roughly 60 questions, covering keto, allergens, catering and kids' meals, and not one is about price. Anything sold as a national price was assembled by a third party.

  2. Price it in Chick-fil-A One with your restaurant selected

The app quotes the restaurant you pick rather than an average of other lists. It takes about 10 seconds, and that subtotal is what you will be charged.

  3. Test a list against its own numbers

A tracker publishing a $5.34 national average follows it with a city table spanning $5.16 to $6.13 for the same sandwich. Publishing the internal range is honest work. A single figure with no market and no date is not.

  4. Discard any paragraph that contradicts itself

One site calls the Chicken Sandwich meal $4.95 and the original sandwich $11.99 in the same passage, a gap of $7.04. Nothing else on that page is worth carrying into a budget.

  5. Add the location premium before you budget

Another list puts California, the Northeast and airport or mall restaurants 10 to 20% above its Southern and Midwest baseline. Delivery platforms run about 25% over counter prices before the fee.

If something goes wrong

I paid more than every list said

Cause
No published list is tied to your restaurant
Fix
Normal rather than an error. Price it in Chick-fil-A One with your restaurant selected; that subtotal is the only figure describing your store.

Two nearby restaurants charge differently

Cause
Different Operators, different rent, different local wage floors
Fix
Ownership rather than distance decides. Two restaurants a mile apart can be run by separate Operators setting separate boards.

A site quotes wildly different prices for one item

Cause
It is assembling numbers from different restaurants at different times
Fix
Check whether it contradicts itself. $4.95 and $11.99 for the same sandwich in one paragraph marks the whole page as unchecked.

The delivery app is far dearer

Cause
Platform pricing is marked up before the fee is added
Fix
Platform pricing runs about 25% above the counter on one tracker's figures, with the delivery fee on top. Collect instead if the price matters.

An advertised deal was not available

Cause
Operators decide participation
Fix
National promotion, local opt-in. Check the app for your restaurant before travelling for an offer.

What’s fixed, and what actually varies

Ownership decides how much of a published spread is genuine. At Chick-fil-A about a dollar of it is.

Fixed

  • Operators set prices; Chick-fil-A publishes no national list
  • 2,795 of 2,863 traditional restaurants are franchise stores, against 68 company-run
  • Chick-fil-A, Inc. owns the buildings and equipment and leases them to Operators
  • The initial franchise fee is $10,000, and Operators hold no equity
  • Every restaurant is closed on Sunday, so a week is 6 trading days

Varies

  • The shelf price of every item, restaurant by restaurant
  • Whether your restaurant is in a 10 to 20% premium market
  • Whether the app is running an offer the counter is not
  • Which limited-time items are stocked and at what price
  • Which published list you land on, and how stale it is

Build the order in Chick-fil-A One without paying and read the subtotal, then compare it against the $5.16 to $6.13 city band one tracker publishes. Inside that band your restaurant is ordinary; well outside it, you are in a premium site or on a delivery platform.

How Chick-fil-A compares

Menu-price tables fail differently at different chains, and ownership decides how.

Ownership counts from company filings and franchise disclosure documents, checked 23 August 2026.

Chick-fil-A has a fair excuse for a wide range: 2,795 independent Operators set their own boards. The excuse covers about a dollar, which is what the one tracker willing to show a city band actually measured. It does not cover $7.04 inside a single paragraph.

One paragraph, one sandwich, two prices $7.04 apart

Search for Chick-fil-A prices and the results look authoritative. Read one closely and it collapses. A site built entirely around the topic states in one passage that its best-selling item, the Chicken Sandwich meal, is priced at $4.95, and that the original chicken sandwich — credited to founder Truett Cathy in 1964 — is priced at $11.99. Same paragraph, $7.04 apart. Neither figure matches anything else published.

The others at least stay in one range while disagreeing. A first list puts the Chicken Sandwich at $5.25, a second $5.34 on a page updated 24 April 2026, and a third at about $5.45. The Deluxe runs $5.95, $6.10 and $6.89. Medium Waffle Potato Fries run $2.85, $2.94 and $3.39. The sandwich meal is $9.74, about $9.99 and about $10.49. A medium Frosted Lemonade appears once, at $4.55.

Some of that is real, and one tracker shows its work: alongside its $5.34 average it publishes a city-by-city table running $5.16 to $6.13. A 97-cent band across markets is what genuine franchise scatter looks like. That first list adds that California, the Northeast and airport or mall restaurants sit 10 to 20% above its Southern and Midwest baseline, and states the model plainly — each restaurant is run by a single franchisee-operator with leeway to set local prices.

The structure behind that is unusual. The franchise disclosure document Chick-fil-A issued in April 2026 counted 2,795 franchise stores against 68 company-run at the close of 2025, with 424 licensed locations beyond them and 3,287 US restaurants in all, on systemwide sales of $23.918 billion and a median restaurant taking $9,087,673. Chick-fil-A, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia owns the real estate and the equipment and leases them to Operators for a $10,000 fee. It owns everything except the price on the menu.

Questions people ask

How much is a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich?

There is no company figure. Three lists checked on 19 August 2026 give $5.25, $5.34 and about $5.45, and one city-level table runs $5.16 to $6.13. A fourth site prints $4.95 and $11.99 in the same paragraph.

Does Chick-fil-A publish any price itself?

No. Its own menu FAQ answers roughly 60 questions on allergens, catering, kids' meals and diets, none about price. The app is the only company-sourced figure, and it is per restaurant.

Why do two nearby restaurants charge differently?

Ownership, not distance. 2,795 of 2,863 traditional restaurants are franchise stores whose Operators set their own prices, and two a mile apart can have different Operators.

How much is a combo meal?

Published meal figures run $9.74, about $9.99 and about $10.49. Your restaurant decides, and Chick-fil-A One with that restaurant selected is the only accurate check.

Are delivery prices higher?

Yes. One tracker puts platform pricing at roughly 25% above counter prices, before the delivery fee. That explains much of the gap people notice.

Why do published price lists disagree so much?

They sample different restaurants at different times and print one number. The tell is internal inconsistency — a page quoting the same sandwich at $4.95 and $11.99 was not read off any menu.

Does the Sunday closure affect prices?

Not directly, but it shapes the economics. A median restaurant took $9,087,673 in 2025 across 6 trading days a week, since every restaurant is closed on Sunday.
