A deal named after a price it no longer charges
The Wendy's Company, of Dublin, Ohio, is a franchisor first. Its Form 10-K for the year ended 28 December 2025 puts 5,546 of 5,969 restaurants in the US in franchisee hands against 423 it runs itself, and states plainly that franchisees have discretion over the prices charged to customers. Item-level scatter at Wendy's is therefore genuine, and a page quoting one number for a Baconator is guessing.
Value tiers are supposed to be the exception. On 14 January 2026 Wendy's announced the Biggie Deals menu: $4 Biggie Bites, a $6 Biggie Bag with a sandwich, four nuggets, a junior fry and a small drink, and an $8 Biggie Bundle with two sandwiches. Those are company numbers, printed by the company. The same release adds that price and participation may vary, and prices may be higher in Alaska, California, Hawaii and through delivery. The company will not guarantee its own advertised national price.
That much is honest. What follows is not. Checked on 19 August 2026, one price site carrying an 18 August 2026 update still listed a 4 for $4 Meal at $4.99 — a promotion whose name is its price, quoted at a price it never had, seven months after the company replaced it. Two lists also show a $5 Biggie Bag, and that one is defensible: the Jr. Cheeseburger build is still $5 while the other builds are $6. A third, verified on 21 July 2026, states the old 4 for $4 and the original Biggie Bag are both gone.
The two that noticed cannot agree on when it happened: one dates the end of the 4 for $4 to 2022, the other to the January 2026 relaunch. Item prices track far more closely. Four lists put Dave's Single at $5.99 to $6.49, $6.49, $6.49 and $6.79, up from the $5.19 published for 2024. The disagreement is not about the burgers. It is about whether anyone opened the menu.
