TellPopeyes — 48 Hours, One a Month, and Write It Down

TellPopeyes is the strictest receipt survey of the major chains, on three counts at once. The code expires 48 hours after your visit. You can take it once a month regardless of how many receipts you collect. And the validation code at the end must be handwritten on the paper — counter staff routinely refuse a photo held up on a phone.

How to take the survey

  1. Check the clock and the calendar

Two limits apply at once. The code expires 48 hours after your visit, and you can only take one Popeyes survey per month. Both catch people out, and neither produces a useful error message — the form simply refuses.

  2. Find the survey code at the top of the receipt

Unlike McDonald's, where it sits mid-receipt, the Popeyes code is printed towards the top. You will also need the store number, the date and the transaction time, and whether your franchisee's receipt format shows all of these together varies.

  3. Get a pen before you start

This sounds trivial and is the single most common way people lose a Popeyes reward. The validation code appears once and needs writing on the receipt. Staff commonly refuse a photo of the screen — pen on paper is what gets accepted.

  4. Type tellpopeyes.com yourself

Enter it in the address bar rather than following a link. The real survey asks only for what is on the receipt — never a card number, a Social Security number, or a fee.

  5. Answer the questions

Food quality, order accuracy, speed, cleanliness and staff. Rating scales with a comment box at the end. Available in English and Spanish.

  6. Write the code down, then redeem it

The validation code is typically five to seven characters and is not the same as the survey code you started with. Write it in the space the receipt designates and bring the receipt back. The usual reward is a two-piece chicken and biscuit with the purchase of a large drink.

What’s fixed, and what actually varies

Popeyes has more fixed constraints than most receipt surveys, which makes the genuinely variable parts easier to isolate.

Fixed

  • The window is 48 hours from your visit
  • One survey per month, regardless of receipts held
  • The validation code is separate from the survey code you enter
  • It must be handwritten on the receipt — screenshots are commonly refused
  • The survey runs in English and Spanish
  • Popeyes employees and their families are excluded

Varies

  • The reward, though a two-piece and biscuit is the common one
  • The purchase condition — usually a large drink, but set per promotion
  • Whether your location participates at all
  • How long the written validation code stays valid
  • Whether a sweepstakes runs alongside the food offer, and its value

Your receipt names the offer and the condition before you start, printed with the survey invitation. If a page tells you the reward with total confidence and no mention of the purchase requirement, it is describing one promotion at one moment. The receipt in your hand is describing yours.

How Popeyes compares

Popeyes and Burger King share a parent company and a 48-hour window; the monthly cap is Popeyes' own.

ChainWhat you enterWindowTypical reward
PopeyesSurvey code + store no. + date + time48 hours2-piece and biscuit, with drink
Burger KingSurvey code from the receipt48 hoursWhopper or chicken sandwich
McDonald's26-digit code, or store no. + date + time + order no.7 daysFree item, BOGO or discount

Rewards vary by location and promotional period. Your own receipt overrides this table.

Popeyes and Burger King both sit under Restaurant Brands International and both run 48 hours, so if you eat at either, same-day is the only reliable habit. Popeyes adds a monthly cap on top, which means collecting receipts is pointless there in a way it is not at McDonald's.

If something goes wrong

The code is rejected and I'm sure it's correct
Cause
More than 48 hours have passed
Fix
Check the time on the receipt, not just the date. A lunchtime visit can expire during the second evening.
It says I've already participated
Cause
The monthly cap — one survey per month per person
Fix
Wait until next month. Extra receipts do not create extra entries at Popeyes the way they do at McDonald's or Taco Bell.
The cashier refused my phone screenshot
Cause
Popeyes expects the validation code handwritten on the receipt
Fix
There is no fix after the fact. Write the code in pen next time, in the space the receipt designates.
I got a validation code but it isn't the same as my survey code
Cause
They are two different things
Fix
That is correct behaviour. The survey code starts the survey; the validation code, usually five to seven characters, is your reward.
My receipt has no survey code
Cause
That franchise location is not running the offer
Fix
There is no workaround. Feedback through Popeyes customer service is still possible but carries no reward.
The site errors partway through
Cause
Session timeout or a browser blocking survey scripts
Fix
Start again in a different browser. If nothing was submitted the code is still usable, provided you remain inside the 48 hours.

Why the handwriting rule matters more than it sounds

Most chains are relaxed about how you present a validation code. Popeyes is not, and the receipt itself says to write the code in the space provided. Counter staff follow that, and people who screenshot the screen instead are turned away at the point of redemption — after the survey is done and the receipt is spent.

The reason is practical rather than arbitrary. The code has to be tied to the specific receipt that generated it, and a photo on a phone proves nothing about which receipt it came from. Popeyes began in New Orleans, Louisiana and now sits under Restaurant Brands International, and like Burger King its restaurants are largely franchised — so the person deciding whether to accept your code is following the operator's instruction, not a brand-wide policy you can appeal.

Questions people ask

How long do I have to take the TellPopeyes survey?

48 hours from your visit. That is a quarter of the window McDonald's, Wendy's and Taco Bell allow, and it is the commonest reason a Popeyes code is refused.

How often can I take it?

Once a month. This is unusual — most chains limit you per receipt rather than per person, so collecting Popeyes receipts does not produce extra entries.

Where is the survey code on the receipt?

Towards the top, rather than in the middle as at McDonald's. You will also need the store number, date and time of the visit.

Can I show the validation code on my phone?

Usually not. Popeyes expects it handwritten on the receipt in the space provided, and staff commonly refuse a screenshot. Write it in pen as soon as it appears.

What do I actually get?

Commonly a two-piece chicken and biscuit with the purchase of a large drink. The offer and its purchase condition are set per promotion and printed on your receipt before you start.

Is the validation code the same as the survey code?

No. The survey code starts the survey. The validation code is what you receive at the end, typically five to seven characters, and it is the part you redeem.

What's the minimum age?

Reported at 16, which is lower than the 18 most comparable surveys require. Popeyes employees and their family members are excluded regardless of age.

Can I redeem at a different Popeyes?

Redemption is safest at the location printed on your receipt. Franchise operators differ on whether they will honour another store's code, and there is no brand-wide guarantee.
