- HelpMeLogin is not American Express. This site holds no credentials, changes no addresses and cannot see an account.
- A page that asks for card details before signing you in is the wrong page. The real profile route sends you to a login wall first, every time.
- Change the details on every card you hold, one by one. Amex says so itself, and a stale address on a second card is where a replacement card gets posted.
- Nobody legitimate rings to confirm a security code. Card service takes calls at 1-800-528-4800 around the clock, and that direction of travel is the safe one.
The American Express login is americanexpress.com/en-us/account/login, and contact details change inside account management rather than at any updatecontactinfo address. The company's own FAQ links profile changes to global.americanexpress.com/account-management/profile, which returned a 302 to the login wall on 8 September 2026. Personal card service is 1-800-528-4800. Nothing has changed hands: American Express National Bank still holds these accounts. Updating an address on one card leaves the others untouched.

What you need
12 itemsHow it works
Sign in before you go looking for the profile screen
Account management sits behind the wall. Starting at americanexpress.com/en-us/account/login gets you there in one move instead of bouncing off a redirect.
Use the account management hostname, not the marketing one
Profile details live at global.americanexpress.com/account-management/profile. That is a genuine deep link rather than a public page, which is why an unauthenticated visit forwards to the sign-in screen.
Repeat the change on every card
Amex states it plainly: "If you have multiple Cards, be sure to change your details for each Card you'd like to update." Two cards means doing this twice.
Match the phone number to the job
Card service takes 1-800-528-4800. Payments by phone use 1-800-472-9297, application status uses 1-877-239-3491, and points questions go to 1-800-297-3276 for Membership Rewards.
If something goes wrong
My updatecontactinfo bookmark opens a page but nothing can be edited
- Cause
- It serves a branded page rather than the profile screen
- Fix
- Because it does not fail visibly, the mistake is easy to miss. Sign in first, then open account management, where the fields actually are.
The profile link threw me back to the login screen
- Cause
- It is a deep link behind authentication
- Fix
- global.americanexpress.com/account-management/profile answers with a 302 to the sign-in page and carries a DestPage parameter so you land back where you started.
I changed my address and a card still shows the old one
- Cause
- The edit applies per card
- Fix
- Amex tells cardholders to change details for each card they want updated. Work through them one at a time.
I rang and got the wrong department
- Cause
- Five separate numbers are published
- Fix
- Service is 1-800-528-4800, payments 1-800-472-9297, application status 1-877-239-3491, new applications 1-888-297-1244, and points 1-800-297-3276.
I use a relay service and cannot find an accessible route
- Cause
- The accessible route shares the main number
- Fix
- TTY and TDD users are given 1-800-528-4800, with relay dial 711. Both are published on the contacts page.
What’s fixed, and what actually varies
The bank is settled and the sign-in is settled. Which screen a given link drops you on is the part that moves.
Fixed
- American Express National Bank holds the accounts
- americanexpress.com/en-us/account/login is the sign-in
- 1-800-528-4800 is the published personal card line, staffed 24/7
- Contact details are edited inside account management
Varies
- How many cards you hold, and therefore how many times the edit must be made
- Which queue your question belongs in, since five separate numbers are published
- What an old bookmark shows you, because a branded page can appear without being the right one
Look at the hostname in the address bar. Account management runs on a different one from the public site.
How compares
Four card accounts, and four answers to the question of which hostname is the account.
| Chain | What the card says | Who actually holds it | Where the login is |
|---|---|---|---|
| American Express | American Express | American Express National Bank | americanexpress.com/en-us/account/login |
| Citi Cards | Citi | Citibank, N.A. | online.citi.com/US/ag/sign-on |
| Chase Credit Cards | Chase | JPMorgan Chase Bank | secure.chase.com, not the card shop |
| Discover | Discover | Discover, with some accounts moved to Capital One | Two live portals during a staggered migration |
Redirect behaviour and published numbers read from first-party pages on 8 September 2026.
A branded page is not proof of the right page. The hostname is the thing worth reading.
A URL that answers politely and still takes you nowhere
The legacy post this replaces was built around americanexpress.com/updatecontactinfo, and the trouble with that address is not that it breaks. It serves a branded page. Nothing errors, nothing warns, and a cardholder who typed it in good faith stands looking at a screen with no field to edit, assuming they have missed a button.
The route the company documents is different. Its FAQ on updating contact information says "You can change your personal details through your online account", and the link it offers goes to global.americanexpress.com/account-management/profile. That hostname is the giveaway. Account management runs somewhere other than the public marketing site, and a visit to the profile path while signed out answers with a 302 back to the sign-in screen, with a DestPage parameter attached so the browser returns afterwards. Checked on 8 September 2026, that is exactly what happens.
No bank has changed here, which makes this page unusual in its category. American Express National Bank holds the accounts, with American Express Travel Related Services alongside. The confusion is purely about addresses.
The second finding is the one that costs money. Amex warns, in its own words, "If you have multiple Cards, be sure to change your details for each Card you'd like to update." A cardholder who moves house, updates one card and assumes the rest followed has left a stale address on every other account. Replacement cards, statements and fraud alerts all follow the address on file.
The phone list deserves a second look too. Five separate numbers are published on the contacts page, and they are not interchangeable. Card service runs 24/7 on 1-800-528-4800, the same digits given for TTY, with relay dial 711. Payments by phone take 1-800-472-9297. Application status is 1-877-239-3491, new applications 1-888-297-1244, and Membership Rewards 1-800-297-3276. Picking the right one first saves a transfer.
Questions people ask
Where do I update my contact information with Amex?
Inside account management, at global.americanexpress.com/account-management/profile. Signing in first is the shortest route, since that link forwards to the login wall.
Does americanexpress.com/updatecontactinfo still work?
It returns a branded page rather than an error, which is why an old bookmark fails quietly. It is not the profile screen.
Where is the American Express login?
americanexpress.com/en-us/account/login. That is where the profile deep link sends an unauthenticated visitor anyway.
Has American Express changed banks?
No. American Express National Bank holds the accounts, with American Express Travel Related Services alongside it.
What is the American Express customer service number?
1-800-528-4800 for personal cards, available 24 hours a day. It is also the number given for TTY, with relay dial 711.
If I change my address on one card, does it change on the others?
No, and Amex says so. Each card needs the change made separately.
Which number do I use to pay by phone?
1-800-472-9297, published as a 24/7 line and separate from general card service.
Is there a separate number for points questions?
Yes. Membership Rewards is 1-800-297-3276, while application status sits on 1-877-239-3491.
