- HelpMeLogin is not Discover, Capital One or any bank. This site holds no credentials, cannot see a balance and cannot move an account between portals.
- "Your account has moved, sign in here to confirm" is a message to distrust. Both companies say notice comes in advance, through the channels you already use. A texted link is not that.
- Type discover.com or capitalone.com by hand. Two live portals means twice the supply of convincing lookalike domains, and a search result guarantees nothing.
- Use the number printed on the back of the card. Capital One's own contact page tells Discover cardholders to do exactly that, so a number read to you over the phone or pasted into an email is not the number.
The Discover card login still sits at discover.com for accounts that have not moved. Capital One completed its acquisition of Discover Financial Services on 18 May 2025, and the site now brands itself Discover by Capital One. Migration is running account by account. Neither company publishes a cutover date, so two portals are live at once, and the only reliable signal of which is yours is the notice you were sent.

What you need
10 itemsHow it works
Look for the notice before you look for a portal
At close, the investor release said customers "will be provided with comprehensive information in advance of any forthcoming changes". That advance notice is the only thing telling you which side of the migration you are on.
Start at discover.com and read what the page calls itself
An account that has not been moved still signs in there. The branding says Discover by Capital One, which convinces people the move already reached them. The parent company changed in 2025. Your individual account may not have.
If you were notified, sign in at capitalone.com instead
Discover's help centre puts it plainly: "Discover is now a part of Capital One. For questions related to an account that has moved to Capital One, login to capitalone.com or the Capital One mobile app." Read the condition in that sentence.
Phone the number on the card, not the general line
1-800-347-2683 is the published Discover number and it spells 1-800-DISCOVER. From abroad, 1-224-888-7777. TTY/Relay 711 is the accessibility route. Do not substitute 1-800-CAPITAL: the contact page at Capital One tells Discover holders to "continue using the number on the back of your card".
If something goes wrong
My password stopped working at discover.com
- Cause
- The account may have been migrated
- Fix
- Check for a mailed or emailed notice, then try capitalone.com. Reset the password only on the site that recognises the account.
I signed in at capitalone.com and the card is not listed
- Cause
- The account has not moved yet
- Fix
- Go back to discover.com. Discover's own FAQ carries the question "What if I haven't been notified to switch to Capital One yet?", which is the company confirming plenty of accounts are still there.
The site says Discover by Capital One, so I assumed everything moved
- Cause
- Corporate branding changed ahead of account migration
- Fix
- Two different events. Ownership changed on 18 May 2025; individual accounts move later, in batches nobody outside the company can see.
I called 1-800-CAPITAL and got nowhere
- Cause
- That is the general Capital One line, not the Discover queue
- Fix
- Discover cardholders are told, on the contact page itself, to keep using the number on the back of the card. That is 1-800-347-2683.
I want the exact date my account switches
- Cause
- No schedule has been published
- Fix
- There is no date to look up. The commitment made at close was advance notice per customer, so treat any date quoted elsewhere as invented.
The toll-free number fails from outside the country
- Cause
- Toll-free prefixes do not route internationally
- Fix
- 1-224-888-7777 is the published international line, and TTY/Relay 711 is the accessibility route inside the country.
What’s fixed, and what actually varies
Who owns the business is settled. Which portal holds your particular account is not.
Fixed
- Capital One completed the acquisition of Discover Financial Services on 18 May 2025
- discover.com and capitalone.com are both live sign-in destinations
- 1-800-347-2683 is the published card servicing number
- The site brands itself Discover by Capital One
Varies
- Whether your own account has been migrated, which nobody publishes
- Which of the two portals accepts your credentials today
- When your notice arrives, since the schedule is not disclosed
- Whether the Capital One mobile app shows the account yet
Try discover.com first. If your credentials work there, the account has not moved. If they do not, and a notice reached you, capitalone.com is where it went.
How compares
Four cards in this batch, four different answers to the same question.
| Chain | What the card says | Who holds the account | Where the login is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discover | Discover | Capital One, since 18 May 2025 | discover.com or capitalone.com, staggered |
| AAdvantage | American Airlines | Citi, or Barclays on the Aviator card | citi.com or barclaycardus.com |
| Walmart | Walmart | Synchrony via OnePay, or Capital One on old plastic | onepay.com or capitalone.com |
| Brooks Brothers | Brooks Brothers | First Electronic Bank, run by Imprint | account.imprint.co |
Checked on 4 September 2026 against first-party pages. Card programmes change hands, and a page that was right last year is the reason this one exists.
The name printed on the plastic tells you who marketed the card. It has stopped telling you who answers when something goes wrong.
Why two Discover portals are live at the same time
The legacy post this page replaces described Discover as a bank that issued its own cards, answered its own phones, and ran its own website end to end. All of that was true when it was written. None of it describes the position today.
The acquisition of Discover Financial Services by Capital One completed on 18 May 2025. The investor release was careful about what had and had not changed: "Capital One and Discover customer accounts and banking relationships remain unchanged. Customers will be provided with comprehensive information in advance of any forthcoming changes." Read the second sentence slowly. It promises notice ahead of change, which is a way of saying change arrives later, in batches, to different people on different days.
That is what has happened. discover.com now brands itself Discover by Capital One, and the help centre states: "Discover is now a part of Capital One. For questions related to an account that has moved to Capital One, login to capitalone.com or the Capital One mobile app." Note the condition sitting in the middle. An account that has moved. Not every account.
The strongest evidence is a question Discover publishes against itself: "What if I haven't been notified to switch to Capital One yet?" Nobody writes that FAQ unless a large number of customers are in exactly that position. So there are two live portals, no published cutover, and no way to tell from outside which one is yours.
A second trap sits underneath, and it costs phone calls. On the contact page at Capital One, Discover cardholders are told to "continue using the number on the back of your card" rather than dialling 1-800-CAPITAL. The general line is the wrong queue even now that the acquirer owns the business. The right number is 1-800-347-2683, unchanged, and it still spells 1-800-DISCOVER.
Check for the notice. Then sign in where it sends you.
Questions people ask
Is Discover now Capital One?
The company is. That acquisition of Discover Financial Services closed on 18 May 2025, and discover.com brands itself Discover by Capital One. Individual accounts are a separate question.
Has my Discover account moved yet?
Undisclosed from the outside. Migration runs account by account and no schedule is published, so the notice sent to you is the only answer that exists.
Which website do I use for the Discover card login?
discover.com if the account has not moved, capitalone.com or the Capital One mobile app if it has. Both are live, which is the whole difficulty.
What is the Discover customer service number?
1-800-347-2683, which spells 1-800-DISCOVER. From outside the country the published line is 1-224-888-7777, and TTY/Relay 711 covers accessibility.
Should I call 1-800-CAPITAL instead?
No. Discover cardholders are told, on the acquirer's own contact page, to continue using the number on the back of the card.
When is the cutover date?
There is not a published one. At close the commitment was information provided in advance of any forthcoming changes, a promise of notice rather than a date.
Did my card number or balance change?
The statement at close was that customer accounts and banking relationships remain unchanged. Your own notice governs anything after that.
Why does a search for the login return so many results?
Because two portals are genuinely live and the confusion is profitable. Type the address yourself.
