Burger King Rewards: The Tier Is Not the Question

What sits behind a Royal Perks login
  • HelpMeLogin operates no Royal Perks account and cannot recover Crowns. Nothing here can log in, reset a password or speak to Burger King for you.
  • Crowns really do expire, which is what makes the fake warning work. The published rule is the first day of the month following the sixth month from the date they were earned. A text claiming yours go today is therefore untrue on its face. The Federal Trade Commission issued an alert on 7 April 2026 about that precise message.
  • A Crown balance has no chargeback behind it. Loyalty currency is not a payment card. If somebody redeems the balance, there is no issuer to reverse it and no cash value to reclaim.
  • The account usually holds a saved card as well. Royal Perks sits inside the same app used for mobile ordering, so a reused password exposes the payment method rather than just the free fries.

Burger King rewards run on Crowns, earned at 10 for every dollar spent on eligible transactions. Royal Perks publishes four tiers: 200, 400, 700 and 1,000 Crowns. Picking the right item inside a tier matters more than picking the tier. At 700 Crowns a Whopper is worth 1.07 cents each against published US prices recorded in August 2026, while an Oreo Cookie Shake at the same 700 is worth 0.64. Crowns last six months.

How it works

  1. Read the tier, then read the items under it

Four tiers exist and each holds several unrelated products. Because the Crown cost is flat within a tier, whatever carries the highest shelf price wins, and dessert almost never does.

  2. Do the division on the item you actually want

A Whopper recorded at $6.79 or $7.49 against 700 Crowns lands at 0.97 to 1.07 cents. Chicken Fries at $4.99 against the same 700 gives 0.71. One tier, two very different trades.

  3. Ignore the instinct to save

Nothing accrues here. Crowns expire on the first day of the month following the sixth month from earning, and the 200-Crown rung already pays better than three of the four tiers.

  4. Check that the restaurant participates

Royal Perks is valid at participating US restaurants in Burger King's wording, and 994 of the estate is company-run while the rest belongs to independent operators. The app is where participation shows.

  5. Redeem before a price change, not after

Crown costs are national and shelf prices are local. A tier fixed at 700 is worth more where the Whopper reads $7.49 than where it reads $6.69.

If something goes wrong

My Crowns vanished overnight

Cause
The published expiry, which lands on a month boundary
Fix
Anything earned in February goes on 1 September under the stated rule. Expired Crowns are not restored, so check earn dates in the app.

The redemption did not appear at the counter

Cause
A reward claimed in the app but not attached to the order
Fix
Claim it inside the order rather than beforehand, and confirm the restaurant is set correctly before paying.

This restaurant does not run Royal Perks

Cause
Participation is decided restaurant by restaurant
Fix
Independent operators run all but 994 of the US estate. Search the app for another location before assuming the account is broken.

A message says my Crowns expire today

Cause
A phishing pattern flagged by the Federal Trade Commission
Fix
Delete it. Expiry falls on the first of a month, so a same-day deadline is a tell. Check the balance in the app you installed yourself.

Somebody drained the balance

Cause
Credentials reused from another site
Fix
Change the password, remove the stored card and tell Burger King. Loyalty currency carries no chargeback, so nothing gets reversed.

What’s fixed, and what actually varies

Two halves of this sum come from different places. Burger King sets the Crown cost centrally; the operator sets the price of what you redeem, and that decides the conversion.

Fixed

  • 10 Crowns per dollar on eligible transactions
  • Four tiers at 200, 400, 700 and 1,000 Crowns
  • Expiry on the first day of the month following the sixth month
  • Redemption is limited to participating US restaurants

Varies

  • The shelf price of the redeemed item, which sets cents per Crown
  • Which products sit in a tier, since the line-up rotates
  • Whether a franchised restaurant runs the programme
  • Whether an app offer can be used in the same order

Open the app with your restaurant selected. That tier screen is the one which applies, and the menu price beside each item is the number to divide by.

How Burger King compares

All four programmes here run on 10 units per dollar or the visual equivalent. What separates them is where the value leaks away.

Conversions use each company's published tier against published US prices recorded in August 2026. Prices vary by restaurant.

Burger King is the only one of the four where the biggest loss happens after you have chosen the tier. Everywhere else the damage is done by which tier you pick.

The tier is flat, the menu underneath it is not

Royal Perks is unusually easy to read. Ten Crowns arrive per dollar, and four tiers sit at 200, 400, 700 and 1,000. That structure implies the choice worth agonising over is which tier to aim for. It is not.

Each tier holds several products at one flat Crown price, and Burger King sets shelf prices nowhere. Take the 700 rung. Published US prices recorded in August 2026 put the Whopper at $6.79 or $7.49, the 8 pc Chicken Fries at $4.99, the Oreo Cookie Shake at $4.49. Against 700 Crowns those become 1.07, 0.71 and 0.64 cents. Choosing the sandwich over the shake is worth 67% more for identical Crowns.

The 200 rung repeats the trick more sharply. Small Fries were recorded at $2.79 and a Cheeseburger at $2.79 or $2.99, both landing near 1.40 cents. Two Chocolate Chip Cookies, in the same tier, were recorded at $1.50 or $1.59, which is roughly 0.78. Half the value, same cost.

Compare that with the tier ladder itself, which behaves far better. Small Fries at 200 give 1.40 cents; a Whopper Jr. at 400 and $3.99 gives 1.00; the Whopper at 700 gives up to 1.07; the Double Cheeseburger Meal at 1,000, recorded from $8.69 to $10.39, gives 0.87 to 1.04. The ladder is broadly flat. What swings is the menu inside each rung.

One clock governs all of it. Crowns expire on the first day of the month following the sixth month from the date they were earned, in Burger King's own wording, so a balance built in March is gone on 1 October whatever else happens.

Questions people ask

How many Crowns for a Whopper?

700, which represents $70 of eligible spend. At a recorded $6.79 or $7.49 that is 0.97 to 1.07 cents a Crown, the strongest use of that tier.

What is a Burger King Crown worth?

Roughly 0.6 to 1.5 cents, decided by which item you redeem rather than which tier. Small Fries at 200 Crowns sat at the top of that range in August 2026.

Do Crowns expire?

Yes. The published rule is the first day of the month following the sixth month from the date they were earned, so balances clear at a month start.

What are the Royal Perks tiers?

200, 400, 700 and 1,000 Crowns. Each holds several items, and the line-up rotates, so read the app rather than a remembered list.

Does every Burger King take Crowns?

No. Redemption is limited to participating US restaurants, and all but 994 of them belong to independent operators who decide for themselves.

Is the 1,000-Crown combo worth saving for?

Only just. The Double Cheeseburger Meal was recorded between $8.69 and $10.39, giving 0.87 to 1.04 cents a Crown, which the 200-Crown fries beat outright.

Can Crowns be transferred or bought?

No. They are tied to one account, hold no cash value and cannot be sold on, and a balance somebody else redeems is simply gone.
