What a dollar buys on this menu, four different ways

A dollar is a useful unit here, because this section prices most of its changes in small amounts and one of them is exactly a dollar.

Thirty cents adds a slice of cheese to a Hamburger, worth forty calories on Burger King's own count. Ten cents adds bacon to a Cheeseburger, worth fifty. A dollar and twenty cents adds a second beef patty, worth 110 calories and nine grams of protein. Each of those figures rests on two recorded prices and two published nutrition rows, and each can be checked by anybody willing to do the subtraction.

Then there is the fourth. A dollar takes a Classic Melt at $4.99 to a Philly Melt at $5.99, and nothing whatever is known about what it buys. No calorie difference, because neither burger has a calorie count. No corroboration, because both prices rest on one reading each. No published description of the build, because none has been issued. It is the only priced step in this section that cannot be examined from any angle at all.

What's in it
